Day 5, when I remembered to stop

Today was the equivalent of the last stage between O Pedrouzo to Santiago de Compostela. Like yesterday, it was less than 20km (19.4km), but unlike yesterday, I got into a better rhythm, and really enjoyed the day.

I recalled the end of The Way, when the four get to Santiago then decide to go on to Finisterre, on the Atlantic coast. Originally I had made arrangements to leave Santiago the day after I completed the walk. Santiago to Finisterre is another 80km, or 3-4 days walking. I now have a dilemma. Do I take another week and walk to the ocean? Or leave that for another time?

When I started this, it seemed like five days’ walking 117km was going to be a challenge. Now that I have done the equivalent, I am more confident that I’ll be able to finish it for real.

…and I want to do more.
