Day 4, from Arzúa to O Pedrouzo is just 19.3km. After yesterday‘s 28km, today’s section was a bit weird because I was impatient for it to be finished. It felt like a long time, even although I was finished by 11:30am, which was on schedule.
It was such a beautiful day that I spent the afternoon in the garden. What a strange day. I should have been packing for a flight to Spain tomorrow. Instead, I’m at home, in the oasis of the garden, with the fence around me. I can hardly contemplate that I was supposed to be going away tomorrow, the world has changed so much. Travel is very precious to me. When I was looking after Dan, I wasn’t able to travel very much. While he was fit enough, I took him on holiday to Tenerife and Madeira, which he loved. When he wasn’t fit enough, I went away once a year, combining a conference with a holiday, but always dreading it because of the terrible effect respite always had on him. I have started to travel again, and always look upon it as a precious gift. My plans for this year have been put on hold, but not for ever.
Join me tomorrow for the last stage O Pedrouzo to Santiago de Compostela.
