Doin' the Queensferry Crossing

The lassie saw an advert fur tae walk The Queensferry Crossin’ afore it wis open. She pit an application in tae the competition tae win a place and she got it! She thought it wid be a guid idea tae dae a sponsored walk so she raised £190 fur Alzheimer Scotland.

It wis a braw day oan the bridge. The sun wis shinin’ and the sky wis blue. We hud oor instructions tae go tae a park in Fife. When we got there, it wis a huge park fu’ o’ cars and folk comin’ and goin’ a’ways. The lassie parked the car and we followed the crowds tae get oan a bus tae go tae the bridge.

Ah wis a wee bit feart goin’ tae the bus. We hud tae go through a security check in a tent afore we could get oan the bus. Ah wisnae sure that they wid let a coo oan the bridge, wae it bein’ new. Ah held ma breath when we went through the security check but they thought ah wis safer than a bottle, and they nodded me through.

Ah kept quiet in the rucksack a’ the way in the bus tae the bridge. It wis quite excitin’ tae be jiggled aboot in the rucksack an’ hear a’ the noise and the excitement.

An’ here ah um oan the bridge! The lassie took me oot the rucksack so ah could see whit wis goin’ oan and so ah could get a bit o’ fresh air after bein’ stuffed in the rucksack fur a bit. Ye kin see a’ the folk walkin’ o’er the bridge. A’body’s talkin’ tae each other and nearly a’body’s walkin’ tae raise money fur a wee cause that’s important tae them. So we a’ have somethin’ in common. We’re a’ tryin’ tae help folk. Ah wis fair prood o’ daein’ this.

The lassie walked for a while wi’ a wummin that wis walkin’ fur a charity tae help her wee grandson. Loads a folk were wearin’ t-shirts fur their charities and it was a’ colourful. Oor t-shirt wis purple.

Fur a’ the folk walkin’ oan the bridge there wis plenty o’ other folk there tae help them. Here’s two o’ ma new pals that ah hud ma photie taken wi’, makin’ sure that a’body wis a’right oan the bridge.

Ah think folk were a wee bit surprised tae see a coo oan the bridge, fur there were plenty signs sayin’

NAE ANIMALS OAN THE BRIDGE

But ah suppose ye could argue that ah wisnae oan the bridge because the lassie wis carryin’ me.

As well as nae animals oan the bridge, ye kin see fae this photie that ah wisnae supposed tae climb o’er the barrier either. But, in fur a penny, in fur a pound. Ah wis a bit o’ a rebel. Mibbe it wis the strong sun that made me a bit wild.

Here ah um wi’ the other Forth Bridges in the backgroond. It’s braw, isn’t it? Ah really enjoyed ma day oot wi’ the lassie, oan the bridge.

Em, ah might a’ spoke too soon. Ken ah said that there wis nae animals oan the bridge? Well, at the end o’ the bridge wis a polis, and ah wis aprehendit and questioned fur why ah wis oan the bridge. Ah got off wae a warning and telt no’ tae dae it again.

Ye kin see that ah look a wee bit sheepish in this photie. Ah wis a wee bit flustered efter ma brush wi’ the law and the lassie wanted tae look efter me and make sure ah wis a’right, so she didnae pit me back in the rucksack when we went tae catch the bus back tae the park. The bus driver laughed when he saw me, and the lassie telt him aboot nae animals oan the bridge. “Nae bother, hen,” he said. “Two dugs allowed oan the bus!” Ah wis fair relieved, even although ah’m a coo an’ no’ a dug.

When we got back tae the car the lassie let me sit in the front o’ the car. Ah behaved masel’ a’ the way hame. Ah had such a great time walkin’ the bridge and keepin’ the lassie company.
